Name: Keemun Hao Ya Black Tea
Brand: Canton Tea Co
Type: Black tea, Chinese
Form: Loose Leaf
Review: This is one delicious Keemun. The dry leaf is tiny, dark, and delicate in appearance, with a nose of red wine and smoke. The tea infuses to a rich amber brown with a nose that continues to be of red wine and smoke. On the palate? Light-medium bodied with a hint of astringency and, you guessed it, a lot of red wine and smoke.
(Yes, I know, this review is dominated by that wine and smoke.)
This is a remarkably precise tea. It tastes of wine and smoke (in case you haven’t already guessed) and that is where the flavor stays. I would use the term “tight” to describe the tea, but that may cause you to mistakenly think that it is a restrained tea, or that it doesn’t have much flavor. Neither is true. It is just that the flavors are neither elusive nor busy. When you taste this tea, you taste a refined Keemun created by a tea master who knew what s/he was trying to achieve.
The tea drinks nicely on its own, though I’d strongly recommend trying it with food as well. I did pair it with my favorite Keemun-mate, peanut butter and bacon on toast, and experienced intense bliss.
Try this tea. You won’t regret it.

I have an art blog, but several of my blog friends and I get together on the internet each Tuesday and have Tuesday Tea. I feature a blog each day that I believe is relevant to what my post is about. I found your blog through an internet search and will be featuring it tomorrow (June 22) on my blog. Thanks for having so much wonderful information on teas, especially for this really newbie tea drinker.
