Berry Twist Rooibos by Boston Tea Company (review)

Boston Tea Company's Berry Twist Rooibos Name: Berry Twist Rooibos

Brand: Boston Tea

Type: Herbal tisane, rooibos

Form: Loose leaf

Review: My usual approach to reviewing teas here on Lanie Sips typically involves a bit of experimentation. I try a tea hot, I try a tea cold, I try different brewing methods, and on it goes.

I confess, with sincere apologizes to the good folks at the Boston Tea Company, that I’ve forgone my usual testing routine in working with this tisane. We have had a bit of a heatwave, and I have thus been sucking down iced tea like a madwoman. Because I like to sleep at night, an iced tisane is just the thing for the evenings. Thus,  I was delighted when Boston Tea sent me a sample of their Berry Twist Rooibos.

Folks, this stuff is just incredibly good. While flavored rooibos can be incredibly bad, it can also be utterly delicious. The blenders at Boston Tea really knew what they were doing when they mixed a good-quality rooibos with dried blueberries, raspberries, safflowers, and berry flavorings. The result is a refreshing tisane that is fruity and slightly tart, but not sweet.

(Incidentally, this is great to drink on its own, but also goes well with food. A good all-around cold beverage.)

I suppose it is good hot as well, but I haven’t tried it that way. My roommate and I have gone through 6 quarts of Berry Twist Rooibos already, and I only have enough for one more batch. I am not sacrificing it to a hot preparation, not in this weather.

Yum.

Preparation Tips: This is amazing on ice. Don’t be shy about using lots of leaf or giving it a good long steep. I made it in my Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker, dialed to “strong”. Simply wonderful. Try it. You will like it.

Looks beautiful as well. I adore berry-flavored iced teas and look forward to tasting this rooibos.
