Name: Glass Infuser Mug – 300 mg
Brand: Jing Tea
Type: Glass brew mug
Cost: $25.19 (Jing is a UK company, this amount reflects current exchange rates)
Review: The good folks at Jing were kind enough to send me this glass brew mug for review. I am fond of brew mugs, and this one is a nice addition to my collection.
I very much like the curved shape of the mug, which is made of a surprisingly heavy, crystal clear glass. The handle is extended a fair distance from the mug, which helps prevent burnt knuckles. The lid’s handle is also large and elevated enough to keep it cool.
Like the other glass infuser mugs that I have tried, Jing’s version is best used with teas brewed with cooler water. (Removing the glass infuser basket when brewing a black tea with boiling water is a somewhat dangerous proposition.) Also, the mug’s capacity can be deceptive. Fill the mug up the handle top to avoid overflow when you replace the lid.
The infuser mug is dishwasher safe, with one caveat: The glass infuser basket has multiple thin slits on its base into which leaf particles can get stuck. I found that turning my sink faucet onto “spray” works wonders for getting recalcitrant leaves to make their departure.
