Review: When I gave my sister’s fiance this tea, he got concerned:. Apparently the last “detox tea” he tried included laxative herbs and produced rather explosive results. But don’t worry, this “detox” tea doesn’t contain any purgatives!
(Yes, I know I’ve been on a Kusmi kick lately. Sorry, can’t help it. I really like this tea company.)
The tea is a blend of green tea, mate (a South American herb), lemongrass and lemon flavoring. The nose on the dry leaf is strong, dominated by lemongrass (which is to be expected) and piquant. If I didn’t like drinking this stuff so much, I’d gladly use the teabags as underwear drawer sachets…they smell that good!
The tea infuses to a rich gold green with a tangy, lemony nose. The liquor is light-bodied, but has enough substance to give the tea structure. The lemongrass that dominated the nose is less forceful on the palate, meshing well with the slight bitterness of the mate and green tea as well as the lemon flavoring.
This tea is remarkably smooth, and is excellent on ice. In fact, I do advise letting it cool a bit before drinking, as its citrus notes develop at lower temperatures. Also, this tea is an excellent “on the go” breakfast tea: It’s light-bodied tang and smooth stimulant “lift” makes for a great start to the day.

I’ve wondered about this Kusmi selection and am happy to read that it’s as lovely as their other offerings. I’m currently waiting for my package of Spicy Chocolate, Sweet Love and Green St Petersburg to arrive…

Jennifer: Kusmi Teas are just plain yummy. The “Sweet Love” is awesome, and I can’t wait to try the Spicy Chocolate myself!
Hey Lisa: I didn’t do detox with it, just drank the tea. However, I sense that it will soon become my “breakfast tea” as it just tastes so good first thing in the morning!
