Review: I wasn’t sure about this one from the get-go, but since I liked Golden Moon’s Coconut Pouchong so much, I decided to give their Sugar Caramel Oolong a try. Unfortunately, this tea does not measure up to the standard set by the pouchong.
The dry nose of burnt brown sugar is pleasant enough, and the leaves infuse to a gorgeous deep honey-gold. Sadly, the burnt sugar flavor dominates and while the oolong does contribute body to the tea, it is otherwise only along for the ride. The tea was also somewhat bitter, and while it improved over successive infusions, the improvement was not enough to recommend it.
