(Disclosure: I am good friends with the owners of Dream About Tea and do some consulting for them. I’m reviewing these teapots because I truly do think they rock.)
Name: Yixing Teapot
Brand: Dream About Tea

Type: Teaware, Yixing teapot
Cost: $68.00
Review: Collecting Yixing teapots is addictive. Since I can only brew one type of tea in each pot (as the unglazed clay becomes seasoned with the tea brewed in it), and the pots are costly, I have a very limited number of Yixing brewed teas in my repitoire. I love getting a new pot, so that one more of my favorite teas can be prepared in this way.
I like Dream About Tea’s “house brand” teapot (their logo is stamped on the bottom of each pot) for a number of reasons:
- Their simplicity is not only attractive, but indicates quality. Flaws are more easily hid in elaborate details.
- There is a screen (made of clay) inside the pot, which prevents leaves from clogging the spout.
- The handle is in a wide loop, protecting my fingers from being burned.
- The clay does not taint the tea with off odors or flavors.
Right now Dream About Tea is offering free shipping on all orders over $10 with coupon code DECFREESHIP. This coupon code is good through January 1st, 2010.

I know once I open the door to tea pots, I’m lost. I’ve been avoiding the urge for a while now… They are all so unique and very different. UGH!

These are good teapots, to be sure. The trouble with Yixing is that once you start collecting, you can’t stop!
