Review: Tea from Hawaii? Yes indeed! The product of Big Island Teas in Hawaii, this artisan green tea is both interesting and a great introduction to green tea for newbies.
The strange-looking, wiry dark green leaves have a deep, vegetal nose, and infuse to a pretty, green liquor. The tea has a buttery quality to it, with no real astringency. It is full bodied and rich, though it almost lacks the structure to keep from becoming flabby. Almost.
I served this tea to a friend who does not like green tea. He was surprised that he liked it so much (so was I!). I also found that it doesn’t become bitter, even if it has been steeping a long time in a glass.
I look forward to trying more tea from Hawaii, particularly as the tea gardens develop their terroir. Kilinoe green is a great start!

I’m pleased to see yet another positive review of this American tea. They’ve surely done something right with their green.
Their black is really great too, Jason. Review coming soon.
