Cranberry-Apple Oolong Refrigerator Iced Tea Recipe

by Lainie P on August 1, 2009

cranberryapplezingerOk, I admit it. . .I’ve been having a lot of fun mixing up my tea bags into refrigerator (i.e. cold brewed) iced teas.  This latest is a concoction of dark oolong and cranberry-apple tisane. The oolong adds some depth and nuttiness to the cranberry apple flavors: The result is a nutty, warm, yet tart and refreshing drink.

Incidentally, I made this with Choice Organic Oolong, but I suspect that other dark, “teabag” oolongs would work well, too.

At first I thought you were going to talk about mixing fruit juices with tea and I visualized a strong fruit flavor but with the baggage of all kinds of calories. I also saw a lack of the fiber that’s naturally found in the whole food of the fruit and realized I couldn’t go for these recipes. But when I see you’re talking about the strong fruity flavor of Celestial Seasonings tisanes, there’s no guilt involved. Therefore I’m saving this as a tea recipe for my own reference.
