I recently found a great post about refrigerator iced tea (i.e. making tea with cold water by steeping it for a long time in the refrigerator) on The Tea Times Blog. When I read Mesheal’s nifty trick of using two different types of flavored bag tea to make a custom iced brew, I quickly scampered to my kitchen and dug out some bagged teas and tisanes to see what I could whip up.
Lainie’s Raspberry-Mint-Green Refrigerator Iced Tea
Equipment Needed:
Ingredients:
- Celestial Seasonings Raspberry Zinger tisane
- 4 tea bags
- Lipton Green Tea (plain)
- 3 tea bags
- Lipton Green Tea, Mint Flavor
- 3 tea bags
- 10 cups cold, filtered water
Fill the jar or pitcher with the water and then add the teabags. Allow to chill in the refrigerator overnight (I let mine steep for about 12 hours and it turned out great). The result is a light, minty, and not-overly tart brew that is most refreshing.
I am very much looking forward to trying more such combinations, and look forward to hearing what you, my readers, can come up with!

Mint and tea go excellent together iced. My mother makes orange mint tea with fresh orange juice and fresh mint leaves with a good solid black tea iced and it is sooo delicious. THis recipe I cant wait to try. I think raspberry will be perfect too.
Thanks…I am really having fun doing this, looking forward to developing other combinations!
