Review: Here is another flavored tea that truly integrates the flavors of both tea and added ingredients: Numi’s Chocolate Puerh is a scrumptious brew.
Puerh, as most tea-drinkers know, can be an acquired taste, given that some types have a decided “barnyardy” characteristic. Fortunately, however, this barnyardy-ness meshes well with chocolate, vanilla, orange rind, and other spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. The result is a flavored tea with good structure (supplied by the tea) as well as some tasty flavors.
The tea is not terribly sweet, incidentally (though it needs no additional sweetener). The cinnamon note does somewhat dominate, although this is expected. I did not detect much of the orange rind, though the nutmeg definitely made its presence known. The chocolate note is also quite evident, making this a good option for those who wish to curb a chocolate craving.
Tip: Because of the way it is flavored, this tea looks cloudy. Don’t let it stop you from enjoying it, though!
