Heads up, thrifty tea drinkers!
I just got word that Amazon.com has added a bunch of tea to their Subscribe & Save program.
Here is how it works:
- Amazon.com offers a variety of grocery or household staple items as part of the program. (Not all Amazon.com products are available as a part of Subscribe & Save.)
- Consumers select an item, a specific quantity of that item, and how often they want the item delivered (right now the choices are each month, every other month, every three months, or every six months).
- Amazon.com ships the item(s) according to schedule, billing the customer’s credit card each time.
So what are the advantages of Subscribe & Save?
- There are no shipping charges: Shipping is FREE on all Subscribe & Save orders!
- Subscribers get an additional 15% discount, even if the item has already been discounted!
- Subscribers can change or cancel their subscription at any time. No contracts or long-term obligations.
- Subscribers are always warned via email several days before their credit card is charged, allowing them to cancel or skip a shipment if finances demand it.
I had a look at Amazon.com’s offerings, and found some pretty good deals:
- One offering isĀ Mighty Leaf Tea Green & White Variety, Tea Bags, 15-Count Box, Biodegradable Whole Leaf Pouches (Pack of 3)
. The normal retail price on this would be $27.30, though Amazon offers a price of $21.00. However, if you order this through Subscribe & Save, the price drops to $17.85 + free shipping.
- Another is Two Leaves and a Bud, Organic Earl Grey Tea, Tea Bags, 100 Count (100 teabags!). The standard retail on this would be $41.26, and Amazon.com’s price is $31.74. The Subscribe & Save price, on the other hand, is $26.98 + free shipping.
- Or how about Adagio Teas Ti Kuan Yin, 4-Ounce Tins (Pack of 2)
? These retail for $40.72, with an Amazon.com price of $31.32. Subscribe & Save means that you only pay $26.62+ free shipping.
The brands are varied. I found teas by Lipton, Celestial Seasonings, PG Tips, Adagio, Mighty Leaf, Taylors of Harrogate, Eden Grove, Twinings, Lifeboat, Tea of Life, Tazo, Stash, Yogi, Two Leaves & a Bud, Bentley’s, Wisdom of the Ancients, Traditional Medicinals, etc.
So if you are fond of a tea that Amazon.com has on offer, it probably wouldn’t hurt to see if it is available via Subscribe & Save. I’m considering a few subscriptions myself!

I’d like to see more tea companies become Amazon partners. Maybe they think it’s a bit like trying to be a supplier for Walmart with endless demands on price. But personally I love shopping with Amazon and you can often get a brand name tea there for the lowest everyday price on the Internet.
