Adagio’s Almond Oolong (review)

by admin on July 29, 2009

almondoolongName:Almond Oolong

Brand: Adagio Teas

Type: Oolong, flavored

Form: Loose leaf

Cost: Sample size, $2 (makes about 10 cups), 3 ounce tin, $6, quantity discounts available.

Review: Are you  a fan of flavored black teas? If so, let me suggest that you try some of Adagio’s flavored oolongs. Most of them are made from a dark Formosa oolong, so they are almost like black teas, but there is a bit more depth of flavor than one normally gets from “ordinary” flavored black teas.

Adagio’s Almond Oolong is both simple and good: Dark Formosa oolong with almond flavoring and real almond bits. Dark oolongs like this often have both nutty and “roasted” characteristics, and they mesh really well with the almond flavor. The tea has a natural sweetness, so please don’t succumb to the temptation to add sugar to this tea. It isn’t necessary.

Incidentally, the tea is quite good on ice.

This is probably one of my favorites! Haven’t tried it on ice yet – that sounds yummy!

Yes, this is definitely one of their better teas. I really prefer dark oolong instead of black tea for many of these flavored blends.

I must agree there’s going to be “more depth of flavor” in a dark Oolong than in a Black Tea for flavored blends such as these. Roasted sounds like my favorite kind of tea, and nutty isn’t bad either.
