Name: Pre-Rain Organic Dragon Well Supreme

Brand: Jing Tea

Type: Green tea

Form: Loose Leaf

Review: I’ll state right off the bat that I am not particularly fond of Dragon Well (aka Long Jing). Not sure why, but something about it doesn’t sit right with me. That said, if one must drink Dragon Well, Jing’s Pre-Rain Organic Dragon Well Supreme isn’t a bad choice.

The jade green buds are plump and have a wonderfully deep nose of hazelnuts and root veggies. The liquor infuses to a pale yellow/green, and the nutty/vegetal notes remain. On the palate, the liquor is light-to-medium bodied and incredibly smooth. The flavor continues to be nutty, with some notes of roasted leeks, and lacked the “off” flavors that I sometimes detect in Dragon Well.

As I have already noted, Dragon Well just isn’t my thing. That said, this is a balanced tea with deep flavors. I may not be raving about it, but that is because it just isn’t my style. This tea is very well done, and worth trying, particularly if you are fond of Dragon Well.
