Review: The dry leaf of this oolong is a dark green, with some lighter green flecks as well. Its nose is particularly appealing: Sweet, floral lilac notes that remind me of Ti Kuan Yin (Iron Goddess of Mercy).
Once infused to a pale green/yellow, the tea retains its floral character. Slightly sweet, with lilac notes, it has a medium body, and continues to remind me of Ti Kuan Yin, but without the fruit or grain notes that are often found in Ti Kuan Yins.
What struck me about this tea was its simplicity: It is sweet and floral, but doesn’t have the complexity that I normally appreciate in oolongs. It is a tasty tea, make no mistake, and one that I think would match well with light Asian food or simply prepared fish. But those who like a more deeply flavored, complex, intense oolong might wish to try one of auraTeas other oolong offerings.
