Name: Organic Blueberry Rooibos

Brand: Rishi Tea

Type: Tisane, Rooibos

Form: Loose Leaf

Cost: $3.50 for one ounce (quantity discounts available, and as of the time of this review, Rishi is holding a sale on this tisane for less than the price stated here)

Review: Since I got “into” tea and tisanes, I’ve noticed that people are divided on blueberry as a tea/tisane flavor. They either love it or they hate it. Fortunately, I am rather fond of blueberry flavor in my teas/tisanes, thus I am able to enjoy Rishi Tea’s Organic Blueberry Rooibos.

This tisane blends blueberries, hibiscus, schizandra berries, and strawberry and blueberry flavorings with organic rooibos. As in most blends that include hibiscus tartness is dominant: If you prefer a less tart beverage, use honey or agave nectar to sweeten the blend.

In addition to the hibiscus-tartness, there is a very strong berry note, as would be expected given the ingredients. Like Rishi’s Jamaica Red Rooibos, this is an intensely flavored tisane that gives the impression of being more “juice” than an infusion. If you are looking for a low or no calorie fruit-flavored drink, this would be an excellent option.

Recommendation: If you are fond of tartness (and blueberries) this intensely flavored rooibos is a great option. Don’t be afraid to experiment with sweetener when preparing this tisane: It takes very well to honey and agave nectar!

Sounds berrilicious to me! I bet this tisane is a good iced candidate too.

Jen,

It is a yummy tisane, and yes, I would imagine that it would be very good iced!

Lainie – perhaps people view blueberries in tea like they do in bagels. I think it is perfectly delicious, even if not standard operating procedure.

Hey Andrew!

Quite so..though I think that some people are just put off by the flavor of blueberries.

Great to see you here!
