Brand: Adagio Teas
Type: Oolong, flavored
Form: Loose Leaf
Cost: $6 for 3 ounces (quantity discounts available)
Review: There are times when I want to spend an afternoon neck deep in high-end oolong and teawares, carefully steeping, decanting, savoring and, if I’m lucky, sharing and discussing each infusion with a friend.
And then there are other times when all I want is a nice, comforting glass of tea to sip whilst I read or write.
Adagio’s Vanilla Oolong fits the second bill nicely.
This tea is straightforward enough: A dark Formosa oolong blended with vanilla. The vanilla does not taste fake, nor is it overpowering. Instead, it meshes very well with the roasted notes of the oolong. Because of its roasted notes, dark color, and slight sweetness, this tea reminded me a bit of coffee.
As I said, this tea is straightforward: It isn’t complex and it isn’t nuanced. It is, however, very well blended and extremely tasty. It is so easy to overdo flavored teas, but in this case, Adagio perfectly matched the flavor’s intensity to the robustness of the tea. Well done!
Recommendation: Do you like vanilla? This is your tea. Trying to curb a coffee habit? This is your tea. Want something “yummy” in your cup? This is your tea. Want a super complex and deep tea? This is not your tea.

I just ordered some of this yesterday, it should be here on Tuesday… Looking forward to give it a try. Sounds like it will be a good “working” tea to sip on while I code away.

I thoroughly enjoy your writing, Lainie. You make the tea experience come alive. Thanks!
I had actually bought a sample of this not long ago and I love it! You describe it perfectly – I enjoy it when I’m relaxing with dessert or when I’m writing/working. Very nice!
