Spiced Chocolate Rooibus Supreme (review)

by Lainie P on February 27, 2009

Chocolate ChaiName: Spiced Chocolate Rooibus Supreme

Brand: TChing

Type: Tisane, Rooibos

Form: Loose Leaf

Review: The first thing I noticed when I opened the envelope containing my sample was the scent of chocolate. Make no mistake, this is a chocolatey rooibos! TChing has blended cocoa nibs with warm spices (think chai) to create a very warm and inviting drink.

Despite the presence of some strong spices, the chocolate note dominates (I was advised by TChing to allow a long steep time so that the chocolate flavor could develop). On its own, this is a deeply satisfying chocolate/chai drink (the rooibos takes a backseat to the chocolate/spice flavors). When I added some milk and sugar to the tea, it reminded me of Mexican hot chocolate, and made a wonderful dessert on its own!

Recommendation: A must for chocolate lovers. Experiment with milk and sweetening if looking for a lower-calorie hot chocolate substitute.
