Name: Organic Kukicha

Brand: DrinktheLeaf.com

Type: Kukicha (green twig/stem tea)

Form: Loose Leaf

Cost: $14.00 for two ounces, $24.00 for four ounces

Review: Like the other Drink the Leaf teas that I have tried (Red Peony and Jade Oolong), Organic Kukicha is incredibly fresh tasting: The flavors are lively and it is a pleasure to drink for this reason alone.

The nose on the dry leaves is remarkable: Very sweet and very spicy: Reminded me of candied nuts with a slight floral note. When infused, the sweet notes combine with some interesting vegetable flavors: Definitely some sweet green bell pepper and cooked baby carrots there, along with a creamy, nutty flavor. The tea was good for three infusions: The last infusion was a tad thin, and much of its distinctive vegetable notes were gone, but it was still a tasty drink.

Recommendation: A fresh, delicious tea. Be careful in its preparation: You might want to take the water temperature down to 180 degrees (the package recommends 185). It’s  sweet nuttiness makes it a good tea for beginning green tea drinkers.

I am constantly amazed at all your new teas. Where do you find all of them?
