Dolfin Milk Chocolate With Green Sencha Tea (review)

by Lainie P on December 3, 2008

Name: Dolphin Milk Chocolate with Green Sencha Tea

Produced By: Dolfin

Cost: $3.89

Review: I am a great fan of paring tea with chocolate, as demonstrated by my recent pairing of various chocolates with hojicha. So I was delighted to come upon this green tea/chocolate bar in the infamous “wall of chocolate” at Hannah’s Bretzel here in Chicago.

The bar is beautifully packaged inside a paper lined plastic pouch (and is itself sealed in a second plastic pouch). The bar’s appearance is that of quality milk chocolate: Medium brown, creamy, slightly shiny with thin lines impressed on its front, and bits of sencha visible on its back.

When I bit into the bar I tasted good, smooth milk chocolate, though perhaps just a tad sweet for me. There was a slight crunchiness to the bar, not unexpected given the presence of the sencha, and which only added to its character.  The flavor of green tea was not so apparent as I was eating the bar, but was obvious mainly in the finish, where the green, herbal, slightly vegital notes lingered along with the sweet, creamy chocolate. Delicious.

And highly recommended.

That review made my mouth water. Would love to have seen a photo of the back of the bar w/ visible sencha.

Sterling,

I would have taken such a photograph but. .. erm, I ate the bar. :-)

Will try and get another one, though, and take a photo before devouring it!
