(I am breaking my own rule and reviewing a tea while I am sick. I am doing this because this particular tea is one of my favorites to drink while ill, and I thought that my readers might appreciate hearing about it during cold season.)
Name: Trader Joe’s Pomegranate White Tea
Type: White tea, flavored
Form: Paper tea bags
Cost: About $3.50 per box of 20 teabags.
Review: I can’t taste any white tea in this blend: White tea is delicate and easily overwhelmed by strong flavors, so when white tea is paired with pomegranate, hibiscus and lemongrass, the flavor of white tea is going to get lost.
(Personally, I suspect that the white tea is included only to boost the antioxidant level of what would otherwise be a pomegranate tisane.)
Still, Trader Joe’s Pomegranate White Tea is delicious: Tart, not too sweet, comforting when hot, refreshing when iced. (It is tart enough to be tasted even with the stuffiest of heads— which is why I like it when I’m sick!)
Recommendation: I don’t taste the white tea in this blend, but it is nonetheless a delicious drink. I’d definitely recommended it to those who want to avoid sugary fruit juices but who also want to enjoy tart, fruity flavors. In addition, because this tea simply doesn’t taste of tea, it is a good alternative for folks who dislike tea, but want to enjoy its health benefits.

I saw your intro on Entrecard, and wanted to stop by and welcome you aboard. Your blog is lovely, and I have to stop now so I can go and make myself a nice cup of tea!

So my question is this…white tea for me is usually so high in caffeine, it gets me buzzing. How was this kind? Since you said you couldn’t really taste the white tea, did you also get the white tea zing? Or less so?
I have to watch the caffeine intake…blood pressure and all!
BTW, LOVING this blog, just found it. Will definitely be back as I’m a fan of tea!

Karen’s last blog post..Is that a threat, Mr. Henderson?
Hi Karen!
Hrm, I have to say that I don’t normally have a problem with white tea, but if you are very sensitive to it, you may want to start out drinking half a cup and seeing how it affects you. Obviously you should speak to your doctor if you have any other concerns.
But it is a delicious tea, no doubt about it. So glad to see you here, thanks for your comment!
